On Thursday, November 12 the headline on the front page of the Edmonton Journal read "Councillors' Pet Projects In Peril." The timing is interesting considering that in a south Edmonton neighbourhood Peace Officers are counting and catching rabbits. Even more interesting is that Michael Walters had been looking at getting more Peace Officers to catch rabbits and hunt coyotes.
Reporter Elise Stolte wrote:
"City hall took a hard turn to the right this week as the mayor and other progressives on council eyed their own pet projects for the chopping block.
Mayor Don Iveson said few affordable housing projects will make the cut, while Coun. Michael Walters scratched extra peace officers to deal with rogue coyotes and urban wildlife from his list." (Edmonton Journal, Nov.12, 2015)
